All products featured on The Water Conservancy GetWaterSmart directory are qualified to be water efficient, accredited with either a 4 Star and above WELS rating, Energy Rating or Smart Drop Certified (formerly known as Smart Approved Water Mark).
The Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS ) scheme requires registration and labelling of certain water saving products with a WELS rating. A WELS Star rating is an industry-defined guideline designed to show consumers how water-efficient a product is, clearly showing how many litres per minute eco friendly products use.
The Energy Rating Label helps Australian consumers understand the energy use and running costs of common household appliances.
The Smart Drop Certified label applies to those water efficient products that do not fall into the criteria required by the WELS and Energy Rating labels.
